I just ordered the BG revelation and i want to know what you guys think about it! especially in comparison to the Rovners!

Well i can answer this question for you. To me the rovners really clamp the reed down not letting the reed vibrate, cutting off valueable overtones and warmth. Response is allright with the ligature, but overall it is a dead ligeature(soundwise).
The BG Revelation, which i played on the super revelation, is a good ligature. It responds very well and holds the reed firmly, but letting it have plenty of freedom. For me and my lessons teacher, James Meyer of the St. Louis Symphony; we both found that it greatly enforces the hig partials of the tone. This dosen't mean that it makes it easier to play in the high register, but I t means that when you play, the high overtones are enforced eliminating most of the low overtones/partials that give the clarinet a warm rich tone. It also limits you to getting a very 2 dementional sound. The sound can be very narrow and focoused, not a nice open warm rich tone with all overtones enforced.
Noticing this, James and I sat down over the summer to try to find me a better ligeautre. I tried Ligaphone, Eddie Daniels rovner, and a few others. Then Jim let me try his Luyben ligeature. Yes that's right, a professional symphony player playing on a $10 plastic ligeature. Well shure enough i put it on and the sound was the perfect open, but focoused, balanced righ tone with emphasis on the low to mid partials. It was great! I will have to say though that it plays even better if you play the ligature backwards. Meaning with the screws on the same side as the reed. It is crazy and old man Luyben is probablly turning over in his grave in Kansas City, but it makes a difference. I also played on some mouthpieces of Gregory Smith this summer in his studio, and he made a comment about the luyben. So I tried a vandoren optimum of his, and the sound was fairly dead, I tried his own personal Bondae inverted, and a better simialr result. But the luyben had a better tone at that time than the others did.
This is all my personal opinion of course. The BG is good for certain things. The Luyben is a great with a wide full 3 demintional sound. Also though, the Bonade inverted is a great ligeature too. i play on one from time to time. If you have a good reed/mouthpiece combo and everything is vibrating right it is a wonderful compact, projecting tone.
Basuically you need to fit the ligeature to your situation, wether it be orchestral, band, solo, jazz, Klezmer, etc. Keep trying and happy playing. I hope I was of some assistance.

I tried several ligatures before finding the one that seems best for me -- the Spriggs Floating Ligature. It holds the reed firmly but allows it to vibrate fully. Makes articulation much easier, I find.

I play on a BG super revelation and love the sound but see I've just recently started playing th eharder pieces where you need a very dynamic sound, where as the BG pretty much gives me a very nice and fliud, but straight sound. I, too, am in the process of ordering a 5.50 Luyben from the Woodwind and Brasswind co. But I still love my BG ligature; I think it was worth the investment.

BG Revelation is "Fabric ligature width rubber support " and BG Super Revelation is "Fabric width gold plated support ". So, these two seem very different from each other. I agree to Aaron's analysis about Super Revelation but do not know what rubber supported revelation sounds like i.e. the rubber rows effect.
Changing ligatures depending on reeds, what kind of music to play, seasons, might be another choice.

I found the BG Revelation is very similar in sound to the Rovner but louder.

I think the BG Revelation has a metal insert, with the Super Revelation having gold-plating. BG's standard ligatures have rubber inserts.
