I am curious if anyone has any experience with these very inexpensive soft double cases from WW/BW

I have checked the archives for previous posts and would like to hear any additional input. I may be considering it for a short while as a lighter backpack style case, due to some ongoing back problems. I am thinking that it may provide a lighter, easier cheap option.

I got one of them a couple of years ago when I had an old 1911 A clarinet
I wanted to sell and needed some kind of case for it. They are very
well worth the price, you really can't go wrong at $39.95; and I believe
the shipping on this item is only about $5.
I don't think the backpack straps are all that comfy but it is definitely
a lightweight case. The side pocket does not expand at all. it's very
flat...so there's maybe room for one thin folder and that's it....but I
think this case is still a great deal if you can't afford something more expensive.

I've got one. It works quite well and it is good especially since the next price up for double cases is about $150 or so. The only down side of it is that they usually don't have it in stock (at least when I got mine, I waited for about 6 months). It dose hold up well and is fairly lighter than many other cases, but is not much for looks.
The down side of mine was the smell. The glue (I assume it is the glue) that is used is the production of these gives it a horrid smell and the plastic-rubber "pads" on the shoulder straps stink forever. When I got mine it spent about 2-3 weeks open outside, and the shoulder pads were cut off because they never lost their smell.
Even with all that it is a good purchase.

These cases are pretty good value for money (but shop around as you may find them cheaper), though the insides can do with a bit more padding to stop the joints rattling around. Some cushions made from foam covered with black velvet do the trick.

I use that case here in Australia, got it for $99 lol. I think its great, just as good as the BAM cases only not so fat. keeps my clarinets safe fine, has a small zip on the front enough for 1 music folder. fits my reeds, metronome and emergency kit of stuff in the middle with the clarinets on each side.

Yes, I got one today for $39.95 and I'm very impressed and hope to use it ia lot. The manufacturing of this type of product must have Chinese government support to be able to ship and sell it at this very low price.

Another alternative is the Protec couble case, which is also available almost all the time from WWBW without a wait. It costs about $95, is well made and has plenty of storage space for two clarinets, music and accessories.

You may want to get something else. I don't have any experience with the case iteslf, but I do have experience with WWBW and I know that "Expect in 2-3 weeks" generally means "Expect in 2-3 months", if not more. If it were me, I'd pay the extra 40-50 dollars for the Protec.

I have the WWBW double case - it's an incredible bargain. But, it is not a backpack case. The perimeter is lined with wood and even it came with backpack straps it would be very uncomfortable. Hanging off your shoulder it works well.
Save for the tiny outside pocket, it is excellent. Probably the zipper will fail eventually but till then all good.

I wonder how they can ship a case like that, let alone manufacture it, for only $39.95. How long will $39.95 worth of *reeds* last you?
My 15-year-old ProTek double case has worked out really well, although there is not a whole lot of internal storage space. I think they are is still under $100 now.
The side pocket will either hold either stuff or music, and I usually opt for music. A cheap cordura case from a camping store holds tools and reedmaking stuff.
If you don't like the strap, for $30 the Tom Bihn Absolute Shoulder Strap is very comfortable. The pad is made from a stretchy material, with little rubber dots to keep it in place. I got one to haul my ProTek around eastern Europe a few years ago and it worked out very well. They are at: http://www.tombihn.com

I've used these a couple of times. I had one for about 2 years and the rings that you hook the straps into tore off. I bought another one and that one also lasted about 2 years. I loaned it out and when it came back it was falling apart bad enough that you could actually see through the case when it was open. But who knows how it was treated while it was out.
I found the case to be great while it lasted. I did like the fact that it was a backpack, and because it's so light, the straps and wood didn't bother me at all.
