I saw it on eBay and the dealer said Buffet released them 3 months ago. Why would they want to make a lesser model than the B12? Maybe they want a cheaper platic model, that's really shiny, like those glossy Vitos.

The B10 is the same as the B12 but with synthetic pads and no metal bell ring and delrin thumb rest (The new B12's have an adjustable thumb rest now)... and yes ... is is a little less expensive ... They have been out for almost a year now acctualy. :-)))

Hmmm.. my B-12 that i got as a beginner 8 years ago didn't have a metal ring around the bell...

B & H is a funny company that way, I'm not 100 % sure when they change thier manufacturing .. but today, the B10, B12, E11, International (An E11 exclusive to International dealers only with a different case) and E12 are all made in Germany by the Schreiber company. Back 8 years ago... I'm not sure. Tradittion dictates so much of the instrument world ... the bell ring just looks better. :-)))))
