However, on the piano version, the first note of the tempo change is marked pp, while the rest is marked p. Is that letter A? If that's the case, then perhaps you can get away with what you're doing as long as the conductor thinks it sounds OK (since it's his job to tell you if your pianissimo is too pianissimo, right? ). Obviously, it's better to find a way not to "cheat," though. Maybe someone will have a better suggestion. Also, I'm not completely sure what you mean by the rhythmic placement causing you difficulties tonguing. Perhaps if you elaborate on what you mean by that, someone (not necessarily me) will have a better idea what you can do. Post Edited (2008-09-19 19:08)
