 Selmer Dusseldorf

I have an odd-ball clarinet, it's a "Major by Selmer Dusseldorf". It's been in the family for a while and I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about it, History/other (since Selmer is French and Dusseldorf is germany, I'm kinda confused on this one).
