I just my Winter edition of the Woodwind and Brasswind catalog and on page 35 they list German system clarinets from Amati. Prices range from $460-1300. Now these are not Wurlitzer class, but its interesting that there seems to be enough interest that someone is starting to import cheaper German clarinets.

Amati has imported German System clarinets for a long time. THe ww and bw just started carrying them. Amati rates their boehm system clarinets as a 8 and their german system clarinets as a 9. Thats what the Mr Prem at the factory said any way. They kind of specialize in ohler system clarinets. Belcanta, the brand used by Wolfgang meyer is a Belcanta made by amati.

I saw the German system clarinets too. If I had the bucks, I'd get one. I think it would be interest to work something out with it. Are there people that paly both system with a reason other than "because it exists"?

Here in Germany there are a lot companies offering "Cheaper" Clarinets. Among these there are
companies like Yamaha (www.yamaha.de) or Schreiber ( see the Buffet-Homepage). Perhaps they could offer you a "Cheap"
german clarinet. The cheap clarinets have of course a reduced set of keys. Or you could try www.olivacr.com.
(these Clarinets are handcrafted and therefore better but more expensive), or try www.keilwerth.de.

Heard that Amati clarinets are really "cheap" and the quality questionable
