Hi Friends:
It's finally out...Dave Sanborn's newest CD titled: "HERE AND GONE"
http://www.amazon.com/Here-Gone-David-Sanborn/dp/B00186YSQ2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1220302890&sr=1-1
It's Dave at his finest on Jazz Alto, with all his usual great Jazzers backing him up, and all sounding great!
I was called at the last minute to fill-in some of Gil Goldstein's arrangements on Bass Clarinet...lucky me. I had a chance to hear Dave close-up, and be in the same room playing with some of my favorite Jazz idols. Is that cool, or what?
Follow your dreams young players...they do come true!

As you well know, it's a whole different experience playing close up than being in an audience.
Cool John!
Did you know the story about when Dave S. was in 5th grade as a 1st year Sax player his band director told him to quit as he wasn't playing well, and he stayed with it as his Doctor had told him to take up a wind instrument because of his weakened state (polio).
There's hope for us all.

I recently watched David Sanborn on youtube ...a clinic for Selmer in Paris I believe. He has developed a well thought out process for caring for his instrument and equipment. His sound incorporates every harmonic possible to evoke maximum angst. Soul is an understatement. He comes across as a very nice person to boot.
