Hi guys, I just wanted to say that the Ridenour 147 I ordered on Ebay arrived today and I have played it for 3 hours now. I want to say that it works very well and is very in tune, even the throat tones are pretty clear. On my Jupiter clarinet the throat tones are sharp and the response was a little uneven but on the 147 the response was nice and even and really in tune. Plus, the upper register isn't as bright, harsh, and piercing like before. Now it sounds a bit sweeter. But, I'm still trying to get used to the stronger resistance of the clarinet and the ergonomic register key. The register key is in the way sometimes because I keep bumping into it but I'll get to used to it. My problem though is that the thumb rest is very uncomfortable so I'll just buy a thumb cushion. So, anyway what I'm trying to say is that this clarinet is great and it plays very well and would be great for intermediate players as well. I love playing on it but I'm still adjusting to the changes but at least now I can stay in tune when I play with my friends in band. Thanks to all who helped me pick a clarinet. And I also got it for cheap and it doesn't need any repairs. It cost me $129.50, which isn't bad at all. Now , I'll save some more money for a better mouthpiece and reed in the future. Thanks for all of the help and advice to those that helped me.
