Hello,
I want to congratulate for this forum, there are few board competent like this in net.
I always had a problem with my buffet RC prestige Bb, I'm working to improve sound quality in each registry, and note like B (A) and C (Bb) are smooth and airy, cause registry tube opening.
I also fix it reducing key opening, but there is yet some problem.
So i close a bit opening of tube and sound quality for all upper registry is improved very well and tuning is correct right now.
Now i would to fix forever this bad tube, what i could use to do it? I'm checking black wax.
I want to ask also if anyone know this problem and if anyone know how to remove this tube?

Hi Beppe, Welcome to our BBoard. We have discussed register tube questions quite a few times, so I suggest you make several Search[es], [above on this Board], in the Clarinet Bulletin Board and Keepers "archives", where some of our expert's comments may help. Pad rise and tube dimensions are important here. Ave Galper has a patent , which had a period of commercialization, "kit" available I believe. The patent # is prob. in the archives, if not I can provide it [and how to access it] for additional reading. Hope others will comment also. Don

Before deciding that altering or replacing the tube is the only way to go, you should probably take it to a repair man to make sure that your problem can't be fixed by simply putting a thicker amount of cork between the key & the instrument, or by bending the key slightly. To minimize the amount of register key opening.
Just to be safe, I'd find a repair man you can trust before jumping into the register key thing, unless you really know what you're doing that is.

I'm experimenting.
I extracted tube and sealed it, upper registry is good but of course Bb become flat, how much must close?
As i thought this forum is the most complete.
I've read many comments about hasty pad and pinocchio solution.
How exactly is made hasty pad?

I remember that an imperfect instrument could ruin the work of a player, and i recognized that buffet have some responsability.

There are many factors to consider, and compromises to be made when designing a register vent.
If you change from the original design, there is a good chance that you will correct one problem and create a few others.
Clarnibass has done some worthwhile experimenting in this area (on bass clarinet), and may be able to point you to the thread where he reported on his experiments. It was either in this forum or in the saxontheweb forum.

I use hot melt glue sticks (for a glue gun) for the register tube and thumb tube.
In general, the Bb pad should be about 1.5-2mm when you push the key.
