lets help sneezy
Author: Bob Gardner

Two of the largest catalog stores that are promoted on this bb every day is IMS and woodwind and brass. Neither support the board. I would like to start a campain that everytime one of us buy anything from either company we ask them to become a sponser of Sneezy. It will help them and it will help us. So it is a "Win Win situation"
Thanks for you support.
This is my idea--good or bad.
Bob

Bob, I like your idea. I will make sure to do that from now on. -- Nate Zeien

How about e-mailing IMS owner directly?

I am considering whether to buy Buffet R-13 Hand Selected by Gregory Smith and Brannenized from IMS.

By the way, I found from her e-mail that she studied with Robert Marcellus.

I'm trying to work this out. Would it not be better, given the aims you have mentioned, to buy from Sneezy sponsors, and then tell the other company that you derliberately did not buy from them because they were not supporting the bulletin board. Otherwise their very noteriety in not supporting the bulletin board is in effect advertising them.

I thank everyone for the sentiments, and of course I encourage people to buy from the sponsors when appropriate (I do), but I'd rather stay away from discouraging people from buying from non-sponsors. A good buy is a good buy - and if you mention that you'd like them to sponsor Sneezy that's great.

Thanks,
Mark C.

Mark's response shows the "class" he has. He is right. I think you should suggest to those nonsponsors that they should sponsor sneezy.

Thanks Mark for your good work.

By the way Mark, have you solicited any universities for support?

Actually I don't actively solicit support (other than the ads on the pages and one fund drive a couple of years ago). That may change in the near future, as the gratis T-1 line that Sneezy is connected to may go away.

Hey, somebody's thinking! That's a great idea! Next time I make an order I'll say something (unfortuately, I just ordered a bunch of junk, so that might be a while). I hope some of you others out there do the same.

Agreed, a very good idea. Word of mouth means a lot. Also, 1 can see that we aren't talking about a great deal of $$$.

FWIW - actually, IMS & WW&BW get a LOT of HELP from SNEEZY right now. They are BOTH LISTED under RESOUURCES here at Sneezy & are also *prominently* displayed on Anne Bell's Retail WebPage. Many, many people use both of these areas as a resource. I'd like to think this is more an oversight on the part of IMS & WW&BW. Many of us do business with Sneezy sponsors, but also do business with these 2 co.'s, in particular.

SO, if people were to (also) mention the FREE ADVERTISING these Co.'s presently receive, that too, might cause a re-thinking of decisions to support Sneezy financially!

If the Board wasn't run so fairly, someone else might limit dissemination of info to those lending financial support.

Lest someone think that any major company has made a decision not to support Sneezy - it's only happened infrequently, and not by either of those companies. One of the problems is literally I don't charge much, and the marketing powers-that-be have trouble understanding that!

Thanks. On another popular board I was accused of treating sponsors better than non-sponsors. While I may suggest those companies that sponsor Sneezy in front of those that don't, I try to maintain fairness. All the sponsors have been very good in answering questions here fairly and factually.
