The weather here has gone quite warm and humid and a couple of times lately I have had great difficulty removing the barrel from the main part of the clarinet. Twice now I have had to leave it for several hours before I have been able to seperate it to put it away.
In your opinion, is it better to leave the case open or closed under these weather conditions and would it be a good idea to have a tech take a little off the cork to make it an easier fit. The clarinet is a Buffet E13 and is five months old. I have been breaking it in slowly and now play for half an hour twice a day on it.
Some days it goes together reasonably easily and other times is more difficult. I use a little cork grease each time before assembly. The weather seems to be the only variable.
Your advice would be much appreciated.

Buffet clarinets are very prone to this problem,especially when new. It's not the cork but the actual wood of the tenon/socket that is jamming.
Have a tech adjust this as soon as possible.

1. Yes, the weather is probably a significant factor.
2. Yes, get it to a reputable Tech to evaluate.
3. It's always best to close the case and latch it with the horn inside regardless of the weather or anything else.
4. It is a good idea to regulate and measure the humidity inside the case.
5. I assume you swab the horn and use a separate tissue or something to dry all sockets after playing.

Have a tech fit it to the tennon cork or perhaps shave the inside of the barrel where it fits the tennon.

Thanks for all the advice. Yes I do always swab out the clarinet immediately after use and make sure all the sockets are dry. I will get it checked out by a tech as soon as possible.
What is the best way to regulate and measure the humidity inside the case please?

It is not just Buffet. It is the norm for me in my climate to have to adjust the fit of the timber of new Selmers and LeBlancs too.
I guess that is better than having the manufacture make them too loose. In that case they would probably wobble unacceptably in a dry climate.
