Are you sure about Leon Lester? He was in the Philadelphia Orchestra. I had heard that Freeman got an ancient Selmer from his predecessor in New York, whose name escapes me.

LSO bass and New York Phil bass up at the same time. Maybe Stenhouse and Freeman are job swapping ;o)

Stephen Freeman's predecessor in NY was Leonard Schaller (NYPO 1946- 1964)

Shannon Orme...she just won the Bass job in the Detroit Symphony. She studied with Lawrie Bloom at Northwestern and Yehuda Gilad at USC...she is really truly amazing!
