 Breathy/muffled tone on bass clarinet
Author: cb3930

Hello all,
After a bit of practicing on my clarinet, I'm having some trouble getting it to speak without the breathy feedback. I'm not really sure what it causing this - mechanical issue, embouchure, etc. - so I'm wondering if you guys have any ideas. One potential problem is that the neck of my clarinet doesn't seal 100% with the mouthpiece - there's maybe a mm or so of room in between.
Thanks in advance

You can take some teflon tape which is used typically in plumbing to wrap around your mouthpiece so that you can make sure that it isn't a leak which is causing it.

Have you tried a different reed? Could you get a clear sound before?
