I have an old Auguste Buffet clarinet that I'm guessing is from the 40s or 50s. There is a harp symbol above and a star below the "Auguste Buffet" label on the upper joint. There is no serial number.
Does anyone have any idea about this instrument's age or value? I bought it as an undergraduate clarinet performance major in 1989, but after my instructor told me at that time its only value was to be made into a lamp I just stuck it in my closet, where it has been for the last 19 years (not the same closet mind you. )
Apparently it came from Vavro Music Company in St. Paul Minnesota. That is the tag on the top of the case. Inside the case is a sticker with the text "B.A. Rose Music Company, Minneapolis Minn". I can't find either one of these places online anywhere.
Anyone have any insight into or knowledge of this particular model clarinet? I don't know if it's only good to make into a lamp as Girko told me or if it may be a collector's item.
Thank you,
Chad Smith
