I have an old Auguste Buffet clarinet that I'm guessing is from the 40s or 50s. There is a harp symbol above and a star below the "Auguste Buffet" label on the upper joint. There is no serial number.
Does anyone have any idea about this instrument's age or value? I bought it as an undergraduate clarinet performance major in 1989, but after my instructor told me at that time its only value was to be made into a lamp I just stuck it in my closet, where it has been for the last 19 years (not the same closet mind you.)
Apparently it came from Vavro Music Company in St. Paul Minnesota. That is the tag on the top of the case. Inside the case is a sticker with the text "B.A. Rose Music Company, Minneapolis Minn". I can't find either one of these places online anywhere.
Anyone have any insight into or knowledge of this particular model clarinet? I don't know if it's only good to make into a lamp as Girko told me or if it may be a collector's item.
Thank you,
Chad Smith
