For 7 or 8 years, I have been using a Vandoren 5RV lyre mouthpiece. It has served its duty, and worked well. However, I am no longer satisfied with the sound I get from it. I have tried various ligatures and am now using a Bay Medium. The clarinetists I kow who use Gigliotti (forgive any spelling mistakes) have gorgeous tone. I would like to know more about these mouthpieces before I purchase one. I also hope to try some out in the near future.

If it is a good friend I would ask to borrow it and see if you get the same sound out of it. after all they can be cleaned prior to giving it back.

I played on a Gigliotti P34 for about a year. It played great on my Selmer intermediate CL210. My CL210 played real sharp on the throat tones. The Gigliotti P34 brought the pitch down in the throat tones and it gave me a very "velvety" tone. But I switched to a pro model, and the P34 played too flat. So I gave it up and picked another mpc. It may be difficult to try one out from a local retailer-they probably don't carry it. Try one of the mail order companies.

They are pretty good mouthpieces over all. I personally don't use on but I had a good one in the past, but unfortunatly it went through an accident, so it is no longer with me anymore. Dont try just one out, try all the various models he has to offer.
Mr Gigliotti teaches at my school. Most of his students use his mouthpiece and they all have quite different sounds. You might want to consider getting a pack of vandoren v-12 because of course he was responsible for the development of those reeds. The tend to match his mouthpiece, but everyone is different and it might not work. It's worth a try.

I think that might be a bit of hype that's been added. The V12 was a copy of the famouse Morre' reed, at least according to Lee Gibson. I've never heard Tony Gigliotti's name associated with them. Now the Selmer 10 G is a totally different thing!

I am just going by what he(Giggliotti) told me when I had coffee with him one morning at school. He told me he spent 2 weeks trying to come up with that reed. I thought I was all smart and said "gee isn't that expose to be copy or close replica of the morre reed". His reply was nope. He told me that he was close friends with Robert Marcellous and Marcellous gave him some Morre reeds to try and Giggliotti told me he never cared much for the Moree reed. I have never seen a moree reed before in my life. I only hear about them through my current teacher. Now I definatly know about the selmer 10g.
