hi guys, i'm new here in this forum and i'm also new in clarinet stuff. i just have one question. i just bought a new clarinet branded "cecilio" and i believe that i assembled it correctly but i the clarinet just didn't produce any sound. anyone knows what's wrong and is there any way to make it produces sound? thanks, i appreciate your time and help. thanks. A Cecilio is one of those "Far East" instruments that many techs refuse to work on...

I've tried several of those "Far East" instruments" that (supposedly) "many techs refuse to work on". Some have terrible intonation, bad sound, bad mechanics, etc. but I've never seen one that just wouldn't play, at least not after repair and adjustment (if there is something making completely not play). But on the other hand some of those aren't so bad and would be ok for a beginner.
Try making a sound with just the mouthpiece and barrel first. If that doesn't work, maybe the problem isn't the instrument? Do you have a teacher? How beginner are you? Is this the first time you try playing? Sorry if this obvious but do you use a reed, or did you put the reed on correctly, etc.? Maybe your reed is much too hard, maybe too soft and you press too hard. Many complete beginners can't get a sound and with only a few seconds with a teacher the problem is solved. The problem could be the instrument but since there is no sound at all I think it is more likely to be something else.

First off, welcome to our little world of the clarinet!
I agree with Clarnibass. You should make an effort to meet with a decent teacher, and take a lesson or two. The reasonable price will be well worth it in the long run. If nothing else, it will help to rule out bad equipment as the sole culprit, and also allow you to get off to a good start in your playing. A teacher will also be able to ascertain whether you are using the preoper combination of mouthpiece and reed.
Before wasting money on cheap junk instruments, you should read this thread and avoid the instrument brands listed: http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/read.html?f=20&i=357&t=357 If your horn is on the list, you will undoubtedly have problems and heartache. Scrap it or return it if possible and invest a few more bucks on a decent used horn or a good beginner clarinet.

Can you make a sound with just the mouthpiece, reed and ligature? If not then there is something wrong with the way you are assembling those critical components or with the way you're blowing into the mouthpiece. What strength reed are you using?

Since you are just barely beginning, it would probably be just as helpful (and most likely cheaper) if you could find a decent student to give you lessons. They'll appreciate the few bucks, too.
