Hi everyone,
I'll be attending UC Berkeley as a freshman next year, but I won't be beginning until spring 2009. I'll be a music major, and I can't face four months of not playing at all (I can't be in ensembles) so I want to find an outside teacher. This wouldn't mean switching over to the school's teacher after just four months.
Is anyone familiar with teachers in the Bay Area that I could get in touch with?
Thank you!
P.S. Does anyone know if Carey Bell or Luiz Baez have a private studio/website? I've been looking but I've had no luck.

David Neuman does not teach anymore.
You should be able to reach Luis through the Conservatory.
Also check out Art Austin (former Curtis grad) who is principal in Marin Symphony and plays all over the bay area. He lives in the Sunset district in San Francisco. You should be able to reach him through the Marin Symphony. He has an active studio and is a really nice guy.
Ginger Kroft-Barneston is a strong player who also plays all over the bay. She is at Santa Clara Univeristy. <www.gingerk.net>
There are many more but this is a good place to start. I'm not sure about Carey Bell but lessons with him would no doubt be awesome.

I studied with Carey Bell for a while. I think he's a really great player, great teacher, and one of the nicest men you will ever meet.
I don't know if he's teaching now, but he's definitely worth getting in touch with
