I have a Brahms Concerto in F minor (I think) and there's an rf under one of the notes. At first glance I thought it was a sfz (sfortzando) but I'm not sure if that's just a shortened form of it. My private teacher and I spent some time looking it up in a dictionary and online and couldn't find anything. Does anyone have experience with this?

rf, rfz. =* rinforzando
(Italian) Reinforcing; reinforced, i.e. stress is applied to individual notes or chords. So rinforza, rinforzamente; reinforcement.

rf: can be defined as in the preceeding message, but can also be applied to several notes or even an entire phrase, esp. in early romantic composers such as Beethoven.
