 Stand Lights

I'm looking for recommendations for a good stand light. What would be a good one that would actually illuminate two pages of music? I borrowed a mighty bright tonight, it was ok. What about the one that has two little lights like rabbits ears? After tonight, I'm convinced that I need a "gig" light.

I tried many kinds. Finally settled on led flashlite held by a band on my head, available at wallmart. Small but powerful beam, and adjustable so that was right where I wanted it, but maybe annoying to others.

I have a couple of CE brand stand lights. It is a nifty-looking thing with a base that clips to the stand and a stalk that swings up to hold two LEDs. The only problem is that that stalk won't stay where I want it. It slowly rises to the upper limit of its travel.

Our band uses the Concertlight II by Lampcraft. They are available with a six hour battery and a handy zippered carrying case with handles.

I kinda sorta liked the "miner hat" idea but from the perspective of the audience you're shining a light directly into their eyes.

Most here use the two-head mighty-bright lights.

I use a Manhasset Music Stand Light available at www.wwbw.com for $19.99 It illuminates wider than the Mighty Bright that I have and doesn't reflect back on the audience. In fact, our music director started requiring them instead of the Mighty Brights for just that reason - less audience distraction, better light for musicians. The only drawback - you do need a power cord. If you absolutely can't plug it in then the Mighty Bright is a good bet, either one or two headed.

Wenger sells a very nice light - brighter than the "mighty brites" or whatever they're called. It also comes with a slightly blued gel that fits over the light if you don't want the glaring white. They're a bit pricey (in the $40 range last time I ordered), but a nice light. I believe their website is:

I also have the Concertlight II by Lampcraft. It illuminates with a cool light over two pages of music and does not shine in the eyes of the conductor.

I have used the giglight from Lampcraft, which works well. This new version looks even better. Both can be used with batteries or a cord. (you have to order the cord separately)

Thanks, everyone. I selected the new Mighty Bright Duet, for $34.95, that comes with an adapter. It looks cool, and will make a nice birthday present. It's on it's way. After looking around the band shell the other evening, I noticed all of the different options. The clip on Might Bright only does about one page. The original with the two small lights does much better, so this new model should be fine.
