I had a Noblet wood bass clarinet when I was in college (many centuries ago), and it was quite good. The only drawback it had (which I believe current models still have) is a cork tenon neck, which tends to wobble quite a bit. Otherwise, they seem to play as well as the top-line Leblancs, although they only go down to low E-flat (not low C).
