I know these aren't clarinet specific, so I appologize if I shouldn't be posting this here.
I recently dug up some audio cassettes of band concerts from back when I was in high school and I've been trying to get them on the computer (still trying to work with getting better quality audio). The problem is, I can't remember the names of some of the songs and I can't find the program notes. So I've taken little samples of the songs (there's 8 of them) and put them in an audio file. If anyone can help me identify these pieces, I'd be really grateful.

The next to last one is "American Riversongs -- A Folksong Setting for Band" by Pierre La Plante
Don't recognize any of the others. Did you start them all at the beginning?
Best regards,

Yup, American Riversongs sounds right. Thanks.
Most are close to the beginning (a couple aren't, though because the beginnings are pretty uneventful).
I would write the director, but he left a few years ago and I'm not sure where he's teaching now.

I agree with David on the 7th one. Sounds like Grainger.
Sorry to piggy back off your thread but I can't remember the name of this tune either...
strange video though

I know the tune, but not the name.

Sorry Chelli, can't name a one. However, they sound like so many concert band numbers that have been played in recent years. At least you're lucky to have them and I'm sure you will eventually identify them.

The bulldozer's were dancing to Alberto Ginastera's "Malambo." The melody sounds a lot like the theme to the last movement of Rodrigo's "Fantasia para un gentilhombre." Since the Rodrigo gets quite a bit of air time on classical stations, that may be what you were thinking about.

I don't recognize any of them.
With my daughter starting up clarinet, I've been stirring up lots of memories from when I was in HS band. Doing a search on one of the song titles I remembered brought me to this page:
http://www.auburnschools.org/ahs_band/music.html
It has a surprisingly large collection of recordings that particular band has played over the years. If you might recognize the titles upon seeing them (I was surprised at how many long forgotten titles I remembered the instant I saw them), you could play the recording of any that seem familiar and see if you've got a match.
Also, I would consider writing to the new band director at your old school. He might not know what was played when, but I'd guess he gets his material from the same library your old band director left behind, so it might still be productive. For that matter, assuming the pieces you played were reasonably popular with HS bands, asking any HS band director might yield results if they were willing to take the time.
Knowing what years the recordings were made might be useful to someone with more knowledge than me. At least anything composed more recently than the recording could be dismissed.
Even if you never find the song titles, you are lucky to have the recordings.

Can only help with two:
The first one is the first movement of Prelude, Siciliano, and Rondo, by Malcolm Arnold (band arrangement by John Paynter)
The last one is "Simple Song" by Andrew Boysen. I have played these pieces with my band, and I happen to teach at the high school that Andy Boysen taught at - he's the guy who hired me as his replacement.
Dissapointed that I don't know more of them - some of them sound like really nice pieces - I will watch this thread with interest, and maybe I can pick up some of these!

As soon as I read "Prelude, Siciliano, and Rondo", it clicked. That's definitely #1.
Simple Song is also correct for #8.
On a little side note, Andrew Boysen's Kirkpatrick Fanfare was commissioned by my University (Central Missouri State University - now University of Central Missouri) for the opening of the new Kirkpatrick Library my 2nd year of college. When he came for the dedication he also did a directing workshop for some of the students and worked with us on one of our concerts (I love the story behind A Fallen Leaf).
So far the list looks like:
1. Prelude, Siciliano, and Rondo (we did do all 3 mvmts)
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7. American Riversongs (it's definitely that and not Grainger).
8. Simple Song
Oh, and that schools web page didn't help much. I saw some titles that looked familiar and when I listened to them, they were pieces I'd played before, but none from my list.
Thanks again everyone for all the help.
-Chelle
