 Ramon Wodkowski Mouthpieces

Having now played on mouthpieces refaced by Ramon for almost two years, I'd just like to say how much easier and more enjoyable clarinet playing has been ever since. His work is of the highest possible standard. I'd highly recommend them to any clarinet player. I have absoultely no reason to try mouthpieces from any other maker...his work is in a completely different league.

Over the past year, i've got Ramon to reface practically all of my mouthpieces - some old Boosey and Hawkes mouthpieces, Vandorens, Pillinger and Peter Eaton - they are all 100 times improved! His precise work and his consistency means that, if I wanted to, I could use any of those mouthpieces. They all play well!!! ...and they seem extremely tolerant of bad reeds! Whatever facing you prefer, Ramon can do them all....I've got a variety of diffferent ones on my mouthpieces - some are traditional American style close facings, which have the most incredible response and ease of articulation- others are as open as 1.25mm - they all play with great ease and and unparalled warmth of sound. I now have so many good mouthpieces, i can even change depending on the setting or the repertoire. More recently, I've tried a range of Portnoy's he had prepared - they all felt very much the same from one to the next.

So if you need any mouthpiece work doing - or even if you don't! - go and see Ramon. He will make life much easier! Some of the finest English players have now swtiched to mouthpieces Ramon has faced. Richard Hosford (BBC Symphony principal), Bob Hill (LPO principal), Tony Lamb (ENO principal), Ian Herbert (ex-Covent Garden Opera House principal, now session musician), Victor Slaymark, Alex Allen are all now using his mouthpieces as their number 1 mouthpiece - with great success.

I first met Ramon while we were both living in New Haven, CT. He made me a mouthpiece in 2001 which I have been using professionally ever since. I have never had a reason to switch to another. I highly recommend his mouthpieces, they are simply outstanding!
