Does anyone know if this case can fit Yamaha CSGs? The upper joints are longer than typical Buffets, so it makes me wonder.

Muncy told me that they did not have the triple case anymore - just the double. Is there anywhere else to get the triple??

Not Airway, but a good triple/quad case: https://www7.mailordercentral.com/frederichweinerinc/products.asp?dept=1421

Wiseman makes a triple case. He must have a web sight but I'm not sure of it or try some of the major mail order web sights like Weiner or Woodwind Brass Wind etc. to see if they sell it. ESP

Wiseman's website http://www.wisemancases.com/

I think the Wiseman cases are great! Looking on Weiner's website now, the prices are so high, almost double of what I paid just a couple of years ago! The bass clarinet case IMO is still good because I don't know another case for bass plus soprano. But for triple if tehre are other cases, especially with shoulder straps (IMO necessary) then it's harder to justify the Wiseman (but it's a great case, really!).

That wiseman case is no good and looks incredibly foolish. What people (including myself when I owned an Airway triple) REALLY want is a triple BAM Trekking case.

Leblanc or ProTec (I can't remember which) makes a "symphonic doubling" case which has space for an EB and Bb... but the quality looked suspect, and how does one get their "A" around? I would hate to switch cases all the time for different rehearsals.

Perhaps a good plan might be to keep all our clarinets in single cases--A, Bb, C, & Eb--and then take just the ones that are needed for any particular gig in a large fabric grocery bag that you can purchase at any supermarket for $1.50. Why pack that C and/or effer for all those gigs that do not require them?? Just a thought considering the cost and bulk of most triple/quad clarinet cases.

I've had incredible luck with my wiseman triple case. So far, it has held up under all conditions, and I've even been able to fit it in the overhead of tiny prop-planes with absolutely no difficulty. The only downside is the price.

The Airway triple case looked like the ideal case for the typical gigging clarinetist. I'll be very disappointed if it really is gone and nothing replaces it. A Bb, A, and Eb case just makes too much sense not to have available. Wiseman cases are fine, but some people don't prefer the cylindrical shape or the way the clarinets are held in.

don't drop that much for a case. the returns aren't worth the cost of one thing (protect your instrument from bumps and nicks). The case is not heat resistant, so i'm not sure what commands the price so high.

honestly, i would have settled for a modified gun case or a laptop case with backpack straps as a cost cutter. they just make more sense rather then buying the specialized cases, though i do have a bam double case, but the price was reasonable.

I sold the Airway because the clarinets were literally bouncing around inside and it was not airtight.

The result? Broken (and shrinking) clarinets that were impossible to keep at the proper humidity. The case was a total joke after 30 days of use, but Muncy refused to take it back.

Granted, I sold it to some guy who loves it... I think he just tossed some extra padding in. Also, it's dry and cold in Calgary... BAM is the ONLY way to go in the winter unless you want cracking.

As an inexpensive alternative to the $1000 Wiseman, you can make your own custom case. It may not be gorgeous, but it will be functional.

Buy an industrial case from Jensen Tools, or any of the other web-based toolkit suppliers (mine was $89, nine years ago.) Have your local mattress store cut a 3/4" layer of form for the bottom, and thicker layers as needed (cost me $17). Lay out the instrument parts and mark where they go. Then cut the foam with an electric carving knife (being careful, of course.) Get some plush at your local fabric store.

ITo gussy it up, a local tent store can probably make you a zip-up cover for it. Add a Tom Bihn ultimate strap, and you are stying.

I did this for A/Bb/C combination, except I haven't gotten around to the plush yet. A little heavy, but very durable, and very affordable. I was too lazy to add the plush.

buy a gun case, cheaper and the foam is prepacked for you. $39 bucks or something. cheaper then a set of tools.

"That wiseman case is no good and looks incredibly foolish"

I disagree that the Wiseman is "no good" but since I said how much I like it I should mention the down sides. It uses velcro instead of a zipper which I think is much more reliable but it is very noisy to open.

Also I don't agree that it "looks incredibly foolish". I actually like that circular shape which to me looks a bit industrial. But I think the inside material looks a bit too posh and fancy.

I wouldn't modify a gun case because buying it would support the gun industry.

I feel similarly about the gun case idea, though one option I've been considering recently is a large camera equipment case, which is essentially the same thing and also includes, more often than not, cubed foam that is easy to customize to whatever shapes you need.
