I just bought a new Selmer Paris 10S-II clarinet for $1375. All the Yamaha clarinets on WWBW that I tried to buy were not in stock or too expensive so I found this one. Does anyone know what WWBW sold this clarinet for before it was discontinued? I think the retail price was over $3000.

I actually bought this exact same clarinet from Kessler Music in Las Vegas, and I love it, retail when it was introduced in 1993, I think, don't quote me on the year, was $3,675.00. I own an origional series 10 S, and I loved it so getting the second edition of this horn was a no brainer!! I hope you love yours as I do mine, and also sounds wonderful with Baccun Barrel and Bell! But I would rather play a Selmer than any other make, even the Buffet.

You got a real steal!! I paid over $2000 for mine. As a woodwind repairman, I play lots of clarinets including all the boofies- I still prefer my 10@ II.

I guess I got the deal because it is a discontinued clarinet. They listed it as new never used but it's probably new old stock.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they still make a similar clarinet, the Artys. I heard this when I was looking possibly buying a new Selmer (I play on a Recital- a wee heavy at times!).

RE: Artys vs. 10S II-- I thought that the St. Louis model was a renamed 10SII........

I know they have different bore sizes...
10 S II = polycylindrical .567" bore
Artys = .571" bore
St. Louis= Cylindrical 0.571"

Good point- I was, perhaps incorrectly, remembering a comment I thought I heard at the recent NAMM show. Still like my 10SII anyway. Lots of "ping".

Ping is the word I use, how ironic. I bougth the 10 S II because I wanted something new and I liked the ping of my original 10 S.
