 Scavarda - Matrix for Clarinettist

I am working on a project that might involve Scavarda's "Matrix for Clarinettist" - the instructions given for the score do not seem complete. The diagonal lines in the staff are to indicate amplitude (e.g. Cell 5), but what about the curved (slur-like) marks above and below the staff (e.g. Cell 6)? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
