Hello everyone!
I have a dear friend who is an excellent accordion player... she even went to the Accordian Olympics, which I think is like a concerto competition for those who love their squeezeboxes.
We were wondering if any of you knew of any clarinet/ accordion duets. I searched the database already, but only found a bass cl./ acc. duet by Joep Straesser. Has anyone heard this?
Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!
Melanie

check out klezmer music. Clarinet is the lead instrument and the accordion is number two. There must be quite a bit available.

i found some duetts in the catalogue of Stephan Zerluth a specialist shop for clarinet and saxophone music in Germany/Munich (++49(0)89-8634259):
Hollfelder, Waldram: 4 Impressionen 2-3
Johnston, David: 6 Clowns in 7 Acts 2-3
Johnston, David: Sonatine 2-3
Lee, Felix: Tarantella 3
1 = for beginners

A lot of polka music is available out there. Clarinet and the squeezable Steinway are mainstays in this style music. You might check for Clarinet and Piano in this as the only difference for accordian is the bass is in "pre-chorded" buttons. The chords are usually written above the staff in some music for other accompanants.

Well, there is the Clarinet Polka for starters......I have had some experience with French folk dance music recently and would think that it might sound OK to add a clarinet to the tin whistles, fifes, bagpipes and bombards (? I think this is right - double reeded and kind of like the chanter on a bagpipe)which are accompanied by accordians. Same idea as klezmer, but out of the Gascoigne tradition.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions...
Ultimately, we'd like to be able to play something at church, so I will search for some fun sacred music to play and then have her play the piano part.
Thanks again!

If I can find it again, there is a trombone site that offers a couple books of church music for solo trombone and piano. Its most likely in bass clef and all instruments in bass clef are written as if a C instrument no matter what they really are. With a little practice you could sit down with some staff paper and transpose it for clarinet. But check the music sites as there should be plenty for Bb instruments and piano already available.

Hi Melanie!
There's a real good piece by Kapr. I even have a mp3 excerpt which I tried to send to you, but your mail address doesn't seem to work (at least for me).
Cheers anyway.
