I posted this on the doublers board but I did not receive any responses, so I thouht I would try here.
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has played Candide before. What where your experiences? Is it an enjoyable show, and is it fun to listen to and play? Personally I have never played anything besides the orchestral arrangement of the overture.
Thanks for your input!

I haven't played the show, but have played the overture, of course. Also the show-stopper soprano aria "Glitter and be Gay." I have seen the show, though and own the great DVD concert performance with Bernstein conducting the London Symphony. It was also done by the New York Phil in one of the PBS Great Performances shows a year or two ago. Absolutely stunning!
Enjoy!

Never done the show but the Overture was my first professional gig playing Eb Clt in a concert where Richard Stoltzman was soloing. He was really nice to me when we chatted over coffee.

Everyone thanks for your comments, I will let you know how the experience goes after the show is over. But that won't be for quite some time, early october.
Thanks again
