Hi, Y'all,
My brother just gave me an old Silver-colored clarinet. It has "Capital"in a banner on the bell, and the number " C 4 6 8 " at the top of the body where the metal barrel plugs in. The barrel, by the way, is missing.
I'm considering blowing his mind by restoring the instrument and then playing it for him.
Got any info or ideas?
TNX,
Yr.Pal,

Garry: I'm not familiar with the Capital marque, nor do I know if it is worth the cost of restoration, but since you want to do it as an avocational thing, you might search the BB, posibly using something like "metal clarinet barrel" (without the quotes). About a year ot two ago, one of the folks on here ran a thread on a project he undertook to make a replacement barrel for a metal clarinet . . . he gave tips on how he did it and included some pix.

Hi G C - Run a Search [above] for Lande Capital and you will find "what we know" about Capital in Jim's postings. Is there a patent number on your horn, that would help? You may be able to find what barrel length is needed, for tuning, I'd guess about 2 1/2 " from slight acquaintance with metals. Luck, Don
Thanx, Mark, Don
