 Wurlitzer mouthpieces
Author: Liquorice

Wurlitzer make mouthpieces for their own clarinets, with markings like K3 and M4. I know that the K refers to kurz (short facing) and the M refers to medium length facing. But does anybody know what the numbers mean? Is an M4 more open/closed than an M3? And what is the M3*? Thanks.

Yes, more open. I can't be positive about the plus designation (perhaps in between the primary and next number?). I do know that I much preffered the K3+ to the K3.........I like medium open mouthpieces.
