On December 19th Wright Music in Port Washington, NY held a Clarinet Day at Patelson Music House in New York. Not only did they have a ton of product on hand for people to try, they had instruments that are picked by professionals!
If you are looking for a new clarinet these are the guys to call. Right now they have instruments hand picked by Jon Manasse and Dan Gilbert.
You can find information about them and their free clinics on their website:

Shouldn't the ad above include a disclaimer or declaration?

Disclaimer: I purchased my clarinets from Jonathan Watkins when he worked at the old (?) woodwind and brasswind store in New York.
Jonathan Watkins runs Wright Music and he's a good guy to deal with.
Sorry I missed the Patelson event; I attended a Selmer clarinet day at Steinway several years ago and enjoyed the music (morales and others) and the many instruments to try. I think there's a good description of that here if you search.
