What reeds do the Eb Contra Alto or the Eb Contrabass Clarinet use? Vandoren only sells Bb contrabass reeds. are they the same? i know baritone sax reeds can be used but they do not produce favourable vibrations. Help pls!

Depends purely on your mouthpiece. Some mouthpieces are narrower than others and both can be used on both contra-alto and contrabass, depending on the models.
For example the Vandoren reeds fit the Selmer contrabass mouthpiece. That mouthpiece fits all Leblanc contra's and the Selmer contrabasses. I think the Selmer contra-alto mouthpiece (fits Selmer contra-alto clarinets) is narrower, but I'm not sure.

It would be interesting to finally know what mouthpiece has which dimensions, and same for the reeds. It also changed over time I learned.

So, what mouthpiece are you using?

I use Legere 2.25 or 2.50 strength bari sax reeds on a Selmer C* contra alto mouthpiece refaced by the incomparable David Spiegelthal. Works for me.

The Leblanc 350 and 352 contra-alto clarinets have the same size tenon receiver as their BBb contrabasses, so they take the larger contra mouthpieces that need the Vandoren contrabass reeds.

I have both of the paperclip models - contra-alto and contrabass, and I can use the same mouthpiece for each. I've also used bari sax reeds and rico contrabass reeds and they work - but the narrower reeds seem to produce a thinner sound.

I haven't seen any reeds specifically marketed for Eb contra-alto, but Vandoren Contrabass reeds fit on my Selmer C* mouthpiece. I've also used baritone sax reeds and I like them, too.
