Normandy 4

For whatever reason, I cannot find a serial number on my Normandy 4 Clarinet I just bought. Can anyone please tell me where to look - if indeed there is a serial number on it?

And...I have not played the clarinet in YEARS! ...but one of my new year's resolution was to take up an instrument....(my friend's tease me ...they say I am going through a mid-life crisis ...I am 39!....I smile...I dont think so...)

anyway...I bought one tonight. Very good condition. Was only used for half a year....paid $150.00...good deal? curious for feedback. I seem to think I got a good deal. I googled. ebayed. craigslist....and ...prices ranged from 500 to 900 that I saw....I bought mine from a sweet old grandma who i think took pity on me b/c I am a single dad and she had (has) a warm heart and was very sweet...(my intention was not to take advantage of her...it's the price she asked)....maybe I got lucky.

anyway...seems like a nice bulletin board with honest and warm responses. hope i get the same...no cruelty...

My Normandy (wood, Paris) is an earlier model than the Normandy 4, but on mine, the number is on the lower joint, on the same side as the thumb rest but way down below it, barely above the tenon where it attaches to the bell. There's no pigment rubbed into the number. It's hard to make out because it's small and just stamped into the wood. The serial number may not help much, though, because unless my information is out of date, nobody's got a list of serial numbers for Leblanc Normandy. Please correct me if I'm wrong--someone, anyone!--because I'd love to find the date for mine, too!

if i come across on the net serial numbers for Normandy i will let you know!
