I posted a message regarding info. on the Buescher 400 clarinet yesterday. Thanks to Don for pointing me in the right direction. One query I have is the serial number on the Buescher is 204654. If I look up that number in a serial table, it indicates the clarinet is from the 1920s. Now I bought it new in 1987 so I don't really understand. Can anyone shed any light on this problem?
Thanks,
Anne

They may have started a new serial number series - after being acquired and the tooling redone, there's a good chance they started all over again.

From what I have seen, the Buescher 400 is one of their later models. It probably had its own serial number series that is entirely different than the lists available on the internet.

The other people are probably right, IMHO, but make sure you're looking at a serial number and not the patent number, too. Some instruments have both.
Thanks,
Anne
