I'm doing a recital which involves clarinet and piano pieces as well as Weber clarinet Quintet.
I was thinking it might be quite nice to add a short piece including the string quartet to play as an encore, possibly including piano as well.
Any recommendations of shortish clarinet quintets and clarinet, piano and string quartet pieces?
Here's the programme so far..
Weber Quintet
piano solo (Debussy)
Paul Pierne Andante-Scherzo
INTERVAL
Graham Fitkin Gate
piano solo (Gershwin)
Yoshimatsu Fuzzy Bird Sonata
Encore
D'Rivera pieces (cl & pno)
As you can see the second half is more funky so something in that vain would be good.
Any ideas?

Prokofiev Variations on Hebrew Themes is a good one, for this sextet.

I'd echo the Prokofiev...the Howell's Rhapsodic Quintet is 'shortish' (10 minutes roughly) but doesn't really fit with that programme.
I think I'd move the Weber to the end and open with the Howells (in fact I've done that with Mozart in between, went down very well).
And hello Stu...if you need to parts for the Howells drop me a line.

Stanford wrote a couple of movements for this combination. I cannot remember the names, but you could use one or both, as they are short. Nothing like as difficult as the Howells.
