I'm looking for a written out version of the cadenza Martin Frost uses at the end of Rossini Theme/Variations. Anyone have this or know where to look?
While on this topic, how about other written out cadenzas in the same place from other artists or perhaps yourself? I'd like to take a look at who is doing what.
Cadenza would start on C3 in 7th measure from end of piece.
Also, does anyone really play the last 4 measures? Seems to me that the soloist should call it quits after hitting the C3 in 5th measure from end. Actually, I rather like the idea of taking the G4 in measure 5th from end and going up to C4 instead of down to C3. Seems more dramatic finish.

I've bought tons of CDs of Frost's, however I'm yet to buy the one with his, I'm sure freakishly good, Rossini theme and variations.
I've transcribed Charles Neidich's cool cadenza, so it is probably not impossible to transcribe Frost's. I've had lessons with one of Neidich's students who said that he (Neidich) has written out his cadenza and gives it out to people who are interested, maybe Frost will do the same : )
My clarinet teacher and I wrote out a minute or so long cadenza together a while back, and that's the one that I play most often.
The last two or so times that I've performed the piece, I left the last four bars to the piano
Anyway, good luck with the piece, try not to wear out your metronome...

Frost's "The Pied Piper of the Opera" with the Singapore Symphony is the CD you want to get. Yes, his Rossini is done very well. Frost puts more embellishments and tempo changes into the piece and has that great Cadenza at the end. I listen to both his and Sabine's version. Sabine plays the piece pretty straight to the notes which still sounds great...listen to "A Night at the Opera". Also for those reading the other thread about the last 4 notes before the G4 near the end (4 notes prior to 10th measure from end), Martin Frost nails the A4, but tongue's it.
I've written out parts of Frost's version, but alas, it seems I am in the same situation as the King of Austria telling Mozart (movie Amadeus), "that there's too many notes"... and so I turned to the internet for help thinking someone might have already written it out.
You wouldn't by chance have the email address for Frost? I'll ask him for the Cadenza and see what happens. Jeepers, I should look to see if he has a web site. Forgot to do that...
In the meantime, if you have Charles Neidich's "cool cadenza", I've love to have it to look over and try. And if you are willing to share your version, I'd like to look at that too.
Finally, I've started writing out one of my own using some theme's borrowed from another opera; in addition to "working" with the Rossini piece, it would give a chuckle to those who recognized the borrowed theme mysteriously embedded into the end of the Rossini piece.

Yes Frost is probably my favourite clarinetist, seems to have it all huh; tone, technique, charisma and he dances very well also. I'd love to see him choreograph the Rossini.

I used a free program: noteflight, to write out what I believe the cadenza sounds like: sorry it's almost 5 years late...but I hoped maybe i could help some other clarinet players. I've only heard one recording of Martin Frost and his cadenza, so I hope he hasn't played multiple versions. Here's my best:

Try the Amazing Slow Downer program to help you transcribe the cadenza. It works great and you can keep it at pitch while slowing it down! (Not affiliated and I actually don't use it myself; I've just had so many people tell me to get it too!!!)
