My sons Vito plays really sharp (30-40 CENTS) and out of tune (to itself) when we use his new Rovner lig. With three mouthpieces (V45, M13 and L2, Vandorens) - My Festival is nicely in tune with the Rovner(same reed and lig tightening), though sharp because I like the sound of the short barrel.
The Vito plays very slightly sharp with my Festival's lig or the one that came with it. Any ideas?

Try moving the Lig up or down a little bit. In teh instruction they say you can tilt the lig. to get a differant sound.
Hope this helps.

Just FYI
1.Dou know the way to use inverted Rovners not inverted,i.e.
screw this side. I am not joking Rovner admits such a use as a choice.
2.Recently Rovner seems to have changed fabric materials.

3.Rovener recommends a certain type of ligature for
a specific type of mouthpiece.
Their URL has a selection chart.
(My guess: Darker tone mouthpiece has more
ovetone elements.A ligature decrease or increase those
depending on matching.)
4.My experience: I always inject a small amount of oil
to the thread of the screw. By this you can enable
continuous setting of position and tension.
