Does anyone know who former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan studied with while attending Julliard?

He kept raising and lowering the tempo, 1/4th percent at a time depending on the pay scale.

thanks for the excerpt, Hank! I was curious about Greenspan's time with Jerome's band, and the excerpt satisfies my curiosity. I wouldn't have bought the book, but I would have picked it up on a "used-books" pile and checked the relevant chapters--and now I don't have to!

Interesting sideline: Leonard Garment, Greenspan's friend and clarinet/sax colleague is better known as Richard Nixon's lawyer of Watergate fame. Garment's son Paul is a well-known and respected clarinetist and doubler who has played with several symphony orchestras (including Atlanta) and in a number of Broadway shows.

In Garment's autobiography he includes a picture of himself and Greenspan playing in the section in a rehearsal.
