 Evette Clarinet by Buffet
Author: tulips

I recently came into possession of a Evette Clarinet sponsored by Buttet, Paris, France. The serial number is F 76424. Has a regular mouthpiece and a glass one as well. Is this a student model horn? Seems to be in pretty good shape.

Yes, Evettes are midline or "step-up" horns of decent quality. There are several models of the instrument, and some are better than others. They are not pro-line clarinets, but they aren't bad, either.

If you search on:

Evette "sponsored by"

exactly the way I've shown it above, you'll find many previous posts on this model that will give you historical background (and perhaps a different opinion on the quality) of your particular model -- in particular a discussion of the difference between the D-series Evette and the older "sponsored by" version of what were Buffet's wooden student model instruments.

Also, while I didn't drill down far enough through the list of messages to see if it would turn up, Vytas Krass has recently provided evidence (based on keywork design) that suggests that these instruments were actually made by Malerne.

Best regards,
jnk

Good info above. I acquired a plastic Evette-spons., which plays very well [for me], somewhat "bright" with its [stock] mp, but more mellow with others of my mps, some refaced. Its ser # is F 183xx, and I have offered it to "advancing" students inexpensively. Yes, read our comments [Search] . Don

Thanx, Mark, Don
