I would love to play the Copeland concerto as a chamber piece. I'd envisaged piano, string quartet or quintet and the clarinet (definitely including bass). I wondering if this has already been done, and if so whether there are any published (or not) parts. Cheers.

Well its pretty much written for that anyway, just substitute the string orchestra for a quintet (one player per part) and give the piano some of the harp bits.

I tried to do it that way a few years ago for a student's Senior Recital. Boosey and Hawkes insisted that I rent the entire orchestra set of parts, for far more money than my student (or the Music Department) were willing to pay.
Of course there is always Copland's Sextet, for clarinet, piano and string quartet -- a chamber version of his "Short Symphony." A fine, and unjustly neglected work! There is a good recording of this with Harold Wright. Score and parts are available for purchase for about US$65.
Good luck on mounting the Concerto cum chamber work. I think it's a great idea -- too bad the publishers are so uncooperative!
