 Chris Hill

I just wanted to say a few nice words about Chris Hill. In exchange for some repair equipment, he sent me a wonderful, easy blowing mpc. Unfortunately, my embouchure dystonia kept kicking in and I gave up playing again.

Due to financial reasons, I had to sell it. I sold it to a professional clarinetist who plays in a symphony. He related to me that the tonal qualities left him "speechless" and he now uses it in all of his solo parts.

This mpc was not one of Chris's own brand, but an old HR mpc that Chris refaced.

IMHO, Chris knows what he's doing and I hope that his name is grouped together with all of the other great mpc makers/refacers that frequent this BB.

Hello,

I second the opinion about Chris.

He's a great mouthpiece maker, clarinetist, and a hell of a nice guy. He's one of the good guys in the business.

There are quite a few individuals in the music world that make life better for us woodwind folks. I won't go naming names, because I'll sure forget someone that is quite deserving.

It's easy to talk about guys (generic term) that landed performance jobs - more power to them. And the teachers - where would we be without them? But I believe some of the greatest contributions that impact many of us directly are made by superior technicians, mouthpiece/barrel makers/perfecters, and . . . OK, I'll name one . . . THE DOCTOR (there's not a good generic category for him!).

It is unlikely that many of these great contributors will ever grace a CD cover (almost said "album"!) or hold laudable positions at institutions of higher learning. But their work is on the CD, and also in the studios of the finest music programs in the land. And it's in your and my cases at home also, as they serve us all - from pros to amateurs - to make our experience just a little more enjoyable.

And all I can do is say, "Thank You" . . . to Chris and all the others. You DO make a difference!

Chris, beside being a terrific clarinetist and mouthpiece maker, is also one of the most ethical and kindest human beings I've met. He's a rare bird in the sometimes frenetic-paced and too often carelessly handled worlds of both music business and performance.

I have two of his mouthpieces and they are my favorite ones. he keeps on improving the design and has been updating them for me for free.
Just a very nice person to interact with.
