I have a used Vito Reso-tone bass clarinet bearing the number 1467B. Does anyone know how I can determine the age of this instrument ?

Thank you.

The vito resotones are distributed by leblanc. That number is probably a model number, rather than a serial number. I can't find a vito model corresponding to that, but there is a leblanc bass model 476, the vito may just be a rebrand of that. Those were made between 1964-78. Where did you find this number? Check at the bottom of the top joint, if it has one. There may be a serial number there. http://www.woodwind.org/clarinet/Equipment/HowOld/Leblanc.html this is a table of leblanc and vito serial numbers.

Thank you for your help, David. The number I gave was from the bottom of the top joint. In spite of the fact that it is a plastic instrument, it's tone is very much admired by the other members of my (adult) band.
