Does anyone know the quality of this clarinet. Is it a good brand for an upgrade from a plastic clarinet?

Use the search facility to bring back a wealth of information stored here.

One of the 1st questions you need to find out is what kind of Omega - Selmer USA, Selmer Paris, or Selmer Centered Tone. As Vytas points out in one of those posts found via search, they're all very different animals ...

Well said, very true, Mark. I bot, inexpensively, a USA Omega, hoping for an earlier FR Omega, was dissapointed of course, but still pleased with its quality and feel, the "flatter" surfaces of the left hand LF long keys was a real plus !! However, try before buying! Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

Any Selmer Omega is an upgrade compared to most student model "plastic" clarinets.

The USA is the most common one. Not considered to be in the same class as the Selmer Paris models, but still an upgrade from most "plastic" clarinets.

It's always best to try before you buy, or else have it in writing that it can be returned.

Hi Don... I've read all the posts regarding Selmer USA Omega Clarinet. I've deduced that you own one and have a lot of knowledge on them. Do you when they STOPPED making them and any history on the serial numbers? The majority of the one's I've seen have a 4 digit serial number but I've just purchased one with a longer serial number P00215xx. Per Conn-Selmer it was manufactured in 2002 but most posts I've read say they were made in 1990s. It does has the engraved bell and not the oval logo found on the plastic/resonite models. Any insight from you would be great. Thanks!
