 Vito in brown wood ?laminate?
Author: spage

Hi,
I've been looking for information on an instrument I've seen but failed to find anything, so hoping someone here may have some info. Unfortunately the markings on the instrument are not not very clear but it looks like the Vito name in an oval, surrounded by double linked ovals that look a bit like a simplfied version of the interlinked ovals of the logo used for an atom. The instrument is brown, either wood or wood laminate

My conundrum is that I'm not aware of Vito having made an instrument like this. It's not a Conn "propellor wood" in disguise - the grain pattern is different as is the keywork.

Any information gratefully received!
Thanks.

Might be hard (not my instrument). I'll see what I can do.

Amazing....I thought I'd seen all the Vitos...not. Quite a similarity to the propellor wood horns, tho.

It is indeed pretty, and it does, on the surface, resemble the Conns :-)

Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to find information? I've tried poking the "interweb", but to no avail. I tried email to the gleblanc@gleblanc.com address in the Retail section on the main woodwind.org site and got a "retry timeout exceeded" for my pains. Phoning's a bit harder, given the time zones :-)

I really would like to find out more about this instrument.

Thanks.

In the end I 'phoned (transatlanic :-) ) Conn-Selmer Inc, and Pat Diller identified it as a Vito Atomic, made around 1965, in Kenosha, out of Maplewood. My thanks to him!
