Im a classical player myself, and yes i actually consider that open for classical pieces. BUT then again I dont know what your actual tone sounds like???...My opinion with tone and sound for a classical musician is a nice sweet,mellow,creamy tone with a little bit of darkness. For me that is just right, you could also listen to lots of classical clarinet pieces by mozart..etc.. those always helped me out.

I feel ya on this. I play on a 1.20mm opening and sometimes I think it's too open. If it works for you, go right ahead. Email Dr. Marks from the UNC-C School of Music. I'm friends with him and he should have some good words to say, or ask your woodwind coach for the CYSO. He should also be able to tell you.

Traditionally, it is considered a bit open. You might try some other things and see how they feel to you and how you like the tone and control. Consult with a private teacher for some input.
