Freezing Clarinet.....

Since I travel around quite a bit with my clarinet, it sometimes gets put in unheated places like the back box in our pickup. It gets very cold back there. I know it is bad to PLAY a cold instrument, but does it hurt the clarinet in any way to be really cold for a while, and then be heated back up before playing??

Rapid expansion and contraction is certainly detrimental to any instrument, especially wood. If at all possible warm the horn at a slow rate ,put it in your jacket or .....before playing. If in fact you must expose it to extremes perhaps a plastic horn for excursions and wood for more constant climes.
