Thanks. The keys are the same but the bell seems to be a bit bigger and the sound is more mellow and deep. I have tried the How Old section but could not find any info. on the manuf. number of 49359, does anyone know what company made the Jean Martin? How do I clean the clarinet?

J - Dee and I have given you our best guesses re: the horn's ancestry, Martin made many and they were imported and sold here with a variety of naming which Mark C may have time to tell you. As to cleaning up, I just take off all keys, clean-oil-adjust-repad till it plays well, a wood needs bore oil treatment usually. John Butler is a fine repairman-expert-restorer IMHO, look up a post of his and contact him for advice and work. Don

I too have a Jean Martin clarinet. It has a "Woodwind Company" stamp on it, and also has "Low Pitch" stamped on it. I got it many years ago from a friend, who bought it from a street vendor. It's very playable, but I think mostly a low quality horn. I might give it to my eight year old daughter to fool around with.
