 M14 Vandoren clarinet mouthpiece

I am looking to get a new mouthpiece for my E11 clarinet and would like to hear from others who use the M14 their opinion of it, AND WHAT REED THEY USE WITH IT. I play on Rico Royal #2 1/2 reeds. I am trying a 5RV, a B40, and the M14. So far the M14 is giving me the best results, and I am wondering why, since this mouthpiece is recommended to be used with harder reeds, while the other two with soft reeds.
For me the M14 is the easiest to play on and has a nice mellow tone. Why is this playing easier and sounding better even though it's designed for a harder reed, while the other two are not as easy to use and don't have quite as mellow a sound? Is anyone else out there using a soft reed with the M14?
