Does it increase while playing and possibly continue for a time after?

Blood pressure increases with activity. I haven't taken my BP while or after playing, but my guess is that Blood Pressure increases while playing and will moderate to normal within five minutes after playing. If your blood pressure is within a target zone for your age and condition, then you have nothing to worry about. If not, see a doctor.
I recently had a heart attack, and noticed afterwards that playing the clarinet did have an effect on my chest.
In any case, if you think you might be having a heart attack, don't hesitate, call 911 and let the pros figure it out.

I know that mine went up today - I was playing on a very hot stage under lvery hot lights. But I am being treated for high blood pressure so it was not a great surprise. It goes down eventually when you get back to a normal temperature.
