 Clark W Fobes

I've been looking into Clark W Fobes Mouthpieces for a while, and I have some questions. In regards to their San Fransisco series, specifically the Cicero series and CF series. What are these mouthpieces known for, what is each facing know for, how are they different, etc. I'm sort of asking for help understand how these mouthpieces work. I know the sound I want, but now I'm trying to match it up with equipment. I'm looking for something thats dark and focused, but still very resonant and full. In terms of playing, it needs to respond clearly, and feeling free blowing is always nice.
I know I've been asking about this a lot lately and yes I will admit, I'm an equipment junkie, but my current setup is driving me bonkers. I don't like it at all.

Also, if you could recommend other custom mouthpieces that I could look into to give me what I'm looking for.

I apologize if I ask to many questions, but my lesson is only 1 hour once a week, and can only ask so many questions. I respect all of your opinions and your advice is always appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan K

Clark is a great person to ask - he answers his email promptly.

Well, a lot of this is just general information, and I didn't want to trouble him because I'm not totally sure what I want to buy.

Trust me, it's not a problem for a vendor to answer questions from a prospective customer.

To add to what Mark said - a vendor will love to answer your questions and if they're good, you'll be even more interested in buying (or at least trying) their product after you've talked to them.

I have to second (or third?) the suggestion. Email or call Clark. He is a great guy who is more than happy to give detailed answers to any questions. He is extremely helpful. In addition, he makes a great mouthpiece. I have used his mouthpieces for some time and could not recommend them more highly. They are free blowing, responsive, and have great resonance and projection. I find them very reed friendly as well. There are many fine mouthpieces out there, but Clark's are certainly among the best.

I use a CF+. I have a friend who likes his Fobes Cicero 13. You can describe what you are looking for and Clark may be able to suggest what may be best for you. You might also try a couple of styles and see what type matches your taste.

Good luck and let us know what you find!

Thanks so much for the advice. If anything, this BBoard can really point you in the right direction.

I use a Clark Fobes Cicero 14 with my selmer signature and a Backun
Morales barrell-and I love it. There are many great clarinet mouthpiece
makers out there. Backun, Pyne, Hawkins, Brad Behn, Lomax just to name a few. Try them out-do some research-ask your clarinet teacher for
assistance.
