Finally broke down and took my Kaspar Cicero 13 to have the original cork replaced after 30 years. On the way out of the store I bought a Vandoren M 13 at the recommendation of a friend. Wanted to try one out so I could recommend it to a few of my students. Well I brought it home and tried it out. Fell in love it, but now I feel like I'm being unfaithful to my dear Kaspar. Please help.
Signed,

The M13 is no joke. I liked it a lot too.

I haven't tried any Kaspars, but of the hundred or so mouthpieces I've tried, M13s, M14s, and M15s are my favorites.

I am constantly unfaithful. I am monogomous for a while and then some new sound makes me stray. My faithful B45, B40 series 13's are disgarded for the M13. I have even had a brief fling with a Greg Smith (it had to return to its original partner), A disatrous relationship with a selmer...and many other daliances.
The grass is always greener.

Kaspars are not only not as good as modern mouthpieces, most notably Vandoren, but are also hideously impractical and irreplacable for a serious professional.
Don't feel bad. Just realize you have something that works better.
End of story.

My M13 is near and dear to my heart, so in my mind you're not doing anything wrong....
Cheers!

I'll have you know that I am a thoroughly non serious professional, most of the time at least.

Ha, well be that as it may, if I were you I'd just be thrilled you have found something new that you really enjoy. I understand the cheating feeling, but you know, 30 years is a long time for any relationship. I'm sure you all had some good times, but it's time to move on I guess...
